  Activities for Home

Age-group Milestones for 3 year olds:

  • Uses about 15 to 25 words expressively
  • Starts to communicate with sentences
  • Feeds self with cup and silverware
  • Can socialize and play with other children
  • Can listen to a 3 to 5 minute story
  • Shows and interest in or is potty trained
  • Can climb up and down steps

Age-group Milestones for 4's & 5's:

  • Can communicate needs & desires in a proper manner.
  • Is able to share and take turns
  • Is able to play individually or in a group
  • Knows their name and age
  • Is able to write their name correctly
  • Recognizes most letters of the alphabet and their sounds
  • Can manipulate objects such as scissors, glue, etc.
  • Can listen to a 5 to 10 minute story

What you can do at home:

  • Read, read, read! This is most important.
  • Allow them to do free art
  • Limit TV and video games (one hour per day or less, suggested)
  • Play games together
  • Let them help out at home with everyday tasks like cooking and cleaning
  • Practice writing names together
